Georgetown University’s John R. Thompson Athletic Center, a 144,000-square-foot facility, began its renovation journey in the fall of 2016. Named for legendary former men’s basketball coach, John Thompson Jr., the five-story facility accommodates more than 700 students belonging to 29 different sports teams.

Color Art Sports was responsible for a $2 million-dollar furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) project that supported improvements to the basketball courts for both men and women. The project included outfitting weight training rooms, the academic center, locker rooms, and equipment areas. Additionally, a practice basketball court was added on the third floor of the building.

Color Art developed and managed the entire schedule for moving and receiving all the detachable items headed into each area. Each sports team required the correct equipment. Several meeting and tutoring areas had furniture delivered and arranged, with each piece of artwork and awards prominently displayed. Color Art’s team completed the renovations to the Athletic Center within six months.

The goal of renovating the Athletic Center was not only to have a facility with the appropriate elements to train athletes to do their best work, but to proudly showcase the traditions and values of the school.
